Microsoft recently pushed a feature update patch to Windows 11 2022 (22H2), called the “Moment 1” update. The biggest highlight of Microsoft’s update patch is to turn on the “multi-tab” mode for Windows 11 File Explorer.
The Windows 11 Moment 1 upgrade patch is an optional update that users can currently download only by manually searching in Windows Update. Microsoft will reportedly make it available to all Win11 22H2 users on Patch Tuesday in November 2022.
Windows 11 Moment 1 Update
I have to say that from SP1, Update1, Moment1 all the way, Microsoft name change department is also really playing. Now you’re looking forward to Moment 2 and their next new title.
Tabs are one of the most anticipated features, and File Explorer is getting better and better, and it can now create multiple tabs like Chrome or Edge browsers without having to open a lot of windows. Windows is always looking for ways to simplify your day-to-day tasks and make collaboration as easy as possible.
That’s why we’re releasing tabs to File Explorer that make it easy to organize your files and switch between folders. The new Favorites section is the perfect place to pin your most frequently used files.
Intelligent action recommendations
Another way Windows makes your day-to-day tasks, such as collaborating with colleagues, more efficient is to anticipate your needs and provide recommendations for actions you might want to take. For example, when there are phone numbers or future dates in the text, Windows highlights them, making it easy to click and make a call using Phone Link, Teams, or Skype, or click to schedule an appointment, add an event in the calendar app, and include the people you communicate with in the invitation.
Taskbar overflow and easy access to Task Manager
The taskbar is getting two highly requested enhancements. First, if you want to pin more app selections to the taskbar than the space allows, the taskbar gives you an entry point to the overflow menu, allowing you to see all the overflowed apps in one space.
Second, when you right-click on the taskbar, you’ll see an option to jump directly to the Task Manager in addition to the taskbar settings. These improvements are made in direct response to your feedback, and you can access important content with just one click.
To make sharing files easier, we’ve enhanced the Windows sharing experience so you can share files with more discoverable devices nearby directly from your desktop, File Explorer, Photos, Snipping Tool, Xbox, and other apps.
Amazon Android App Store
Previously Windows 11 brought the Android subsystem, and now through a partnership with Amazon, you can search and download Android apps and games from the Amazon Appstore Finish. These apps and games are universally available in 31 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and more. With over 50,000 games to choose from, you can easily discover and download your favorite apps and games on your Windows device.
New sports and entertainment apps
For fans around the world, we’re excited to announce that the ESPN app is available in Microsoft Stores in 239 markets worldwide. The app joins the growing catalog of entertainment, including well-known brands like Hulu, Netflix, Discord, Vudu, Tubi, Crunchyroll, TikTok, and more, as well as Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video for an expanded catalog of titles – making Windows your destination for the entertainment and sports you seek.
Newly designed Photos app
The current Moment1 isn’t the end of the new features. Microsoft also plans to release a newly designed Photos app at the end of this month, which will integrate seamlessly with Apple’s iCloud and Microsoft’s own OneDrive.
In addition, Microsoft also announced a new native screen recording feature, as well as several Apple services that will appear in Windows 11 in the future.
